developmental disabilities an opportunity tosecuring a safe, supported and active community life for their family member.
Ownership Structure and Staff Support:
In January of 2008, the 20 E Street LLC was created to bring
together nine families to renovate and own a home
in South Portland, Maine, and to create an opportunity for home ownership for their adult
children with disabilities.
The legal framework is similar to any condominium model with each family purchasing a "unit" with shared ownership of the common living areas and ownership of the bedroom unit of the individual.
Specialized Housing, Inc. (SHI) provides management and staffing services for the 20 E Street project. SHI will replicate this model of home ownership, which they have developed with more than 25 years of experience.
Specialized Housing provides management services for the condominium under a contract with the Condominium Association Trustees. Bylaws provide ongoing governance for the E Street Condominiums with family members or guardians servings as Trustees and Officers of the Homeowners Association.
